维罗纳，罗密欧与朱丽叶的城、亦是我海外生活了有3年半的第三故乡。她是世界上最大葡萄酒展会Vinitaly（根据fair point的排名：从观展者、参展商和展区面积来说）的城。这个一年一度的意大利葡萄酒会展。没错，这个城市与葡萄酒有着千丝万缕的联系。Vinifera硕士第二年选在维罗纳的课程，就是源于对这座来自意大利东北葡萄酒商业枢纽的由衷向往。日子飞快，对这座城市感知也日渐加深。Antica Bottega del Vino是一个早就耳熟能祥的、意大利葡萄酒爱好者的根据地。平日里偶尔路过也会有情调地来个Aperitivo, 点杯当下时兴的埃特纳白葡萄酒、搭配上精致小鸟腿做下酒菜。微醺间恍然成了半吊子的意大利人。然而，真正对这个地方产生情愫的瞬间是看到这家酒馆堪称庞大的酒单。
Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, is my third hometown and I have been living here for three-and-half years. Verona is the city of Vinitaly, the world’s largest wine exhibition (according to fair point’s ranking: in terms of visitors, exhibitors and their exhibition area). Thus, the city is inextricably linked to wine; the choice to come to Verona for my second year of the Vinifera Masters was based on my sincere yearning to be part of this wine business hub, located in the northeast of Italy. Time has passed quickly and my perception of this city has deepened day by day. There are many wine bars in Verona as well, one being the Antica Bottega del Vino. This bar has long been known as a base for Italian wine lovers. Once in a while, I occasionally pass by and enjoy an Aperitivo, ordering a glass of trendy Etna white, pairing it with delicate quail or pheasant meats. It’s indeed a tipsy moment, simply enjoying la bella vita. However, the moment when I truly became attached to this place was when I saw that this wine bar has a huge wine list.
爱人偶然发现、这里的酒单上有5000余款葡萄酒！当他告诉我这个新发现时，我俩都为此惊叹不已。这个周六晚上，我们一直在搜查和阅读有关Bottega del Vino的内容。朝着自己感兴趣的点一直挖下去有着异常兴奋的体验、平日里因为工作需要长时间使用电脑对眼睛酸痛的担忧早就烟消云散。这份庞大的酒单里不仅仅有着意大利各个丰富产区代表性的葡萄酒，并且包括着世界上知名产区的顶级佳酿。有意思的是，我出生年份的柏图斯和我刚刚买入的车子价位相当。我们开玩笑的说，如果我交上我的车钥匙，他们会毫不犹豫地把这瓶葡萄酒卖给我。庆幸自己并非一晌贪欢之人，却也更喜欢能随时自嘲的自己。
One Saturday, my partner accidentally discovered that there are more than 5000 labels on the wine list! When he shared his new discovery with me, it was mind-blowing for both of us. On that night we searched and read about Bottega del Vino for hours. It was indeed exciting to keep digging, learning more and more; all the negative feelings that come with over using a computer (since it is bad for one’s eyes) went out the window. Their collection of wine is like an authentic tangible wine encyclopaedia! You can find all types of Italian wines, from the diverse regions (the DOCs, DOCGs, IGTs and more), not to mention wines from the well-presented iconic wine regions abroad. For example, the so-called “most expensive wine in Bordeaux” -Petrus, 1992- this vintage is my birth year and costs about the same as the car I just purchased. We joked that if I handed in my car keys, they would serve me the bottle without a second thought. I am glad that I am not greedy enough to indulge thoughts like those, my personality does have a spontaneous side, however, perhaps less wreck-less…in my current life, my mature self is content to entertain thoughts like these and then laugh at myself.
如果你来维罗纳参加Vinitaly，你一定不能错过Antica Bottega del Vino。毕竟远道而来、嗜好意酒的你，一定会爱上一个有5000款葡萄酒的地方。在窄窄的小巷里安静坐落着的酒馆、有一种与世无争的感觉。时常会看到在酒馆外三三五五品酒聊天的友人们、有种时光被滞留的恬静美好。“酒香不怕巷子深”、这里、不缺好酒、更不缺欢笑。这里有着可以消遣的温柔光景、聚集着欣享当下的笑语欢歌。庞大的酒窖、装点着并不宽敞的店面。这一刻，生活可以很慢、很悠闲。如果意大利葡萄酒是你的心头好，这里便一定是你憧憬中天堂的样子。这一生、你一定要做一次意大利人。
If you come to Verona to participate in Vinitaly, you must not miss a night at the Antica Bottega del Vino. After all, as an Italian wine lover who travelled all the way here, you will definitely fall in love with a place that boasts 5,000 wine labels. Located in a narrow alley, it is a quiet place where you feel hidden away from the rest of the world. I often see groups of friends drinking wine and chatting outside the bar, they seem lost in a quiet and beautiful time. As the Chinese saying goes, “Good wine is not afraid of a deep alley”. Here there is no shortage of delicious wine, good music and laughter. The wine cellar is huge, yet the shop itself is indeed not spacious at all, especially since wine bottles decorate the entire shop. When we are at the Bottega del Vino, life can be slow and casual; if Italian wine is in your heart, the Bottega is probably the heaven you dreamt of. As we always say, “you must be an Italian at least once in your lifetime”.

In 2000, when it was about to go bankrupt, this Verona institution was injected with new life. New owners (60% of the Amarone family and 40% of the Antica e Rinomata Riseria Ferron) helped the Bottega to recover from their financial woes. Therefore, it has become a kind of tradition, it has deep roots in the city with a famous wine collection that makes it seem like an exhibition hall. The Amarone family consists of 12 family wineries. These families include: Allegrini Estates, Azienda Agricola Begali Lorenzo, Bouriga della Agricola Brigaldara, Masi Agricola, Musella Winery & Country Relais, Speri Viticoltori, Agricola Fratelli Tedeschi, Tenuta Sant’Antonio, Tommasi Viticoltori, Azienda Agricola Venturini and Zenato Azienda Vitivinicola S.r.l.. These historical families have their roots in historical values and craftsmanship which they effectively transmit into their products. Their efforts not only preserve the wines, but also one of the most strategic wine production areas in Italy: the Valpolicella. The Ferron family is likewise a well-respected rice producing family from Scala Island in Verona Province; their empire is still operational today, still owned by the Ferron family. This family has been using ancient methods to produce rice since 1650 and has continued to adapt their ancient methods ever since.

Risotto all’Amarone is a perfect combination of two top-quality products; Ferron rice and Amarone wine. Bottega del Vino is an outstanding representative of this recipe, bringing these two delicious ingredients to another level. Risotto is one of my favorite Italian delicacies; every Sunday night, our family adds risotto to the menu. This popular home-cooked meal, like pasta, can take on countless permutations and combinations, it satisfies my ultimate longing for delicious rice, since I am a girl who grew up eating rice in the northeast of China. So, you should not pass up the opportunity to order this dish when you come to Verona!
